Handling risk  |  optimising performance

Risk can be described in many different ways – more academic and more practical ones. Most of the definitions focus on risk as the probability of the occurrence of a specific hazard and the extent of its consequences. But whatever definition is used,
the challenge remains always the same: To identify a risk, to consider the acceptability of
it and finally to find a way to properly manage it.

Performance on the other hand can be seen as the accomplish-

ment of a task measured against preset standards. Not only the way how standards are followed but specifically what kind of standards are set affect the final result. Standards therefore
need to be carefully weighted, measured against possible
risks and finally followed consequently to achieve the desired performance.
